A bespoke players’ tunnel for Everton’s new home

As Everton prepared for its move to Hill Dickinson Stadium, Stuart Canvas was commissioned to provide a bespoke retractable players’ tunnel for the new venue.

The tunnel was designed to provide a protected passageway for players and officials travelling between the stadium and pitchside.

Installed in July 2025, the system features a retractable structure mounted on wheels, allowing it to be extended when required and compacted when not in use.

The Requirement

Player protection without compromising stadium flexibility

The new stadium required a purpose-built players’ tunnel capable of creating a protected route between the stadium and the field of play.

Alongside player and official protection, the system needed to remain flexible enough to work within the operational requirements of a modern stadium.

A retractable design provided the solution, allowing the tunnel to be deployed when required without permanently occupying the surrounding space.

Built around the venue

The completed tunnel combines a robust retractable structure with a wheeled base, creating a solution that can be positioned for use before being compacted again when required.

Rather than supplying a standard off-the-shelf system, the tunnel was produced specifically for its intended location within Everton’s new stadium.

The Installation

Installed ahead of Everton’s move to Hill Dickinson Stadium

The completed players’ tunnel was installed by Stuart Canvas at Hill Dickinson Stadium in July 2025.

The installation provided the stadium with a purpose-built retractable tunnel capable of being deployed when required and compacted efficiently when no longer needed.
