Transforming Wimbledon Backdrops into EV Charging Covers

A collaboration between Stuart Canvas and the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) saw an innovation in transforming recycled tennis court backdrop material into covers for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. Stuart Canvas has a 30 year partnership supplying essentials for the Wimbledon Tennis Championships, including court grass covers and backdrops.

Drawing on this longstanding relationship with AELTC, Stuart Canvas devised a pioneering solution by repurposing materials steeped in Wimbledon’s history. It’s been incredibly rewarding to see how these recycled backdrops, once used to create safe barriers around tennis courts during the championships, have been repurposed to serve a new function with sustainability at their core.

The opportunity to incorporate the iconic Wimbledon logo onto each cover adds a touch of tradition. The covers are used during the setup phase of the charging stations or whenever they’re not in use.
