The Covid-19 pandemic has affected us all in some way. Since the being of the outbreak, Stuart Canvas has diversified its production of sports ground equipment and industrial covers, to include the manufacture of PPE equipment to help the national effort to supply keyworkers & the general public with the protection now required.
The company’ decades of expertise in textiles, creating sports pitch covers and mobile cricket covers means that the company is well placed for the production of PPE. The decision to start production was made at the start of the pandemic as it was clear there would be a national shortage of PPE. Working with Macdonald & Taylor Healthcare, Stuart Canvas started to produce medial gowns for use by hospital staff in the NHS during the fight against Covid-19. Dedicated staff were allocated solely for the production of the NHS gowns and changes to the company’s manufacturing floor in Warrington were made to optimise production. This enabled Stuart Canvas to produce 4,000 gowns per week, this level of production has carried on even while the company has started to produce cricket and sports covers again due to the restart of recreational and professional sport in the UK. In August the MP for Warrington North, Charlotte Nichols visit our manufacturing facility to see our work first hand and to speak to our dedicated staff who are producing the medical gown for the NHS.
Stuart Canvas also heeded the call for more face shields to be produced, sourcing the raw materials needed and designing a face shield that can be used for both industrial and personal use, due to the use of an anti-fatigue Oekotex certified foam strip on the hand band of the shield, this allows users to wear the shield for extended periods of time while producing a comfortable fit. The company has also sourced face masks and hand sanitiser which are available to our sporting, industrial and public clients. Over 100,000 pieces of PPE have now left our doors to those who need them and Stuart Canvas is dedicated to the production of PPE during the current uncertain times and will carry on the manufacture of PPE alongside its sporting and industrial coverings, to ensure our current and new clients are able to stay safe.
