Head of Sports Sales

The Company

Stuart Canvas is the leading UK brand for sports pitch cover manufacturing as well as group equipment. Over 50 years old and working with some of the top professional sporting venues in the country in Cricket, Tennis and Racing while also exporting product all over the world. The companies HQ is in Warrington but has sites in Nantwich and Sheffield as well and sells a diverse range of products. The product range is from the manufacture of covers and canvas to designing steel covering systems or equipment for grounds and sports venues.

Job Brief

Stuart Canvas is looking to grow its sports division and as such we are creating a brand new role as Head of Sports sales. The sports we predominantly work in are Cricket, Tennis, Football and racing with a wide range of products. We are looking at growing our market share within the UK as well as overseas with our core products.

The role will be expected to both account manage & grow several key accounts as well as grow the overall department by finding new opportunities. We currently export our products but we believe there is significant growth potential in the export market through finding good distributors as well as creating relationships with overseas governing bodies.

Through new product design we can open up avenues in other sports that we work in and this role will help come up with the ideas for innovative new products that we can manufacture.

This is an exciting new role that requires the individual to have a track record in account management, proactive mindset and selling approach, creativity and to someone who wants to make a difference.

Person

  • Have a good understanding of the sports ground equipment sector.
  • Have experience and contacts with the private school and university sector.
  • Have knowledge and experience within tennis and cricket particularly.
  • Ideally have experience of exporting sports equipment
  • The individual has to be a dynamic go getter and wants to be proactive and not hide behind a screen.

Key Responsibilities

  • To increase sales of the current and future portfolio of goods to both national and international clients
  • To work with and manage the existing team to improve and increase sales.
  • To work with the marketing team to improve and increase sales.
  • To formulate a 3-year plan (after 6 months in post) on how we will see sales growth.
  • To account manage & growth several key accounts
  • To work with sporting organisations and governing bodies to promote and become the expert on the product.
  • To create a strong social media presence for the product portfolio
  • To increase the sports ground equipment and product range through innovative thinking and working with the design department.

The Successful Applicant

  • Proven track record in selling to sports venues, educational establishments as well as working with Governing bodies.
  • Has an outstanding record in leading sales teams?
  • Excellent communicator
  • Willing to get their hands dirty and lead from the front.
  • Is a someone who takes a proactive approach, is focused on numbers, has excellent negotiation skillsets and is totally results driven.
  • Is a practical thinker, creative and innovator.
